Jesse Meinerts
Board Secretary – Evans Valley Fire District #6
I ran for the Evans Valley Fire District #6 Board of Directors because I care deeply about serving the community that my family, friends, and neighbors call home. I believe in supporting our firefighters by ensuring they have the training and equipment necessary to perform their duties safely and effectively. I pray each of them returns home safely after every shift. I value God, family, and country—and it is an honor to serve in this role.
My background began in the medical field, starting in high school and continuing through college. After graduation, I advanced into hospital management before pursuing my longtime goal of becoming a first responder. Since 2006, I’ve served in a variety of public safety roles including City Police Officer, Major Crimes Detective, and currently as a Parole and Probation Officer. I also served as a wildland firefighter for approximately four years.
One of the most memorable experiences of my wildland firefighting career took place on August 17, 2022. While off duty, I responded to a lightning-caused fire on Elk Mountain near Queens Branch Road. For the first time, I was fighting fire in the same rugged terrain I call home. I had the privilege of working alongside Evans Valley Firefighters and the Oregon Department of Forestry during a challenging nighttime initial attack. I witnessed firsthand their courage and endurance—navigating steep slopes, falling boulders, and crashing treetops as they battled flames through the night. Their tireless effort undoubtedly protected our community from devastating loss. That night reaffirmed my commitment to supporting these brave individuals and ensuring they have what they need to do their jobs well.
Outside of this role, I enjoy coaching my children in sports and spending quality time with my family and friends outdoors. I’m also passionate about motorcycle riding and have long been active in both motocross and off-road racing communities.
