Evans Valley Fire District #6 & Applegate Fire District
Full-Time Positions
One Recruitment. Two Outstanding Fire Districts.
Evans Valley Fire District #6 and Applegate Fire District are partnering on a joint recruitment to hire Company Officers. Qualified candidates will participate in one recruitment process while being considered for employment opportunities with either district.
Although the recruitment process is shared, each fire district maintains its own salary, benefits, employment policies, and hiring authority. Applicants are encouraged to review the information below for each agency before applying.
Evans Valley Fire District #6
Salary
Salary Range: $4,503 - $4,729 monthly (Depending on Qualifications)
Benefits
- Participation in Oregon PERS
- 100% paid Medical, Dental, Vision, LTD, and STD by the District for employees only
- $1,500 annual contribution to District-sponsored HRA VEBA Medical Expense Plan
- 120 hours of Vacation annually
- 48 hours of Sick Leave annually
Brief Description
Evans Valley Fire District #6 is a combination fire district located approximately fifteen minutes north of Rogue River in Southern Oregon. Our primary purpose is to protect the lives and property of our citizens. We accomplish this mission by delivering emergency medical services, fire suppression operations, rescue services, wildfire response, and public education.
We are seeking a talented, experienced, and proven fire service professional to join our team as the District’s next Company Officer.

Applegate Fire District
Salary
Salary Range: $5,133 - $6,425 monthly
Annual Base Salary (Step 5 Captain): $77,102
Benefits
- Representation by IAFF Local 3564
- Participation in Oregon PERS
- 100% Paid Family Medical, Dental, and Vision Plan
- $4,002 annual contribution to HRA VEBA Medical Expense Plan
- Deferred Compensation with a 2% employer match
- EMS Incentive Pay (2%-4% Depending on Qualifications)
- Longevity Pay (1%-5%)

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
Applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications common to both agencies:
- Valid Driver’s License (Oregon within six (6) months of hire)
- NFPA Firefighter I (or equivalent)
- NFPA Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator (or equivalent)
- NFPA Apparatus Equipped with a Fire Pump (Pumper Operator or equivalent)
- Licensed as an Oregon or National Registry EMT in good standing
Additional district-specific qualifications may apply. Please request the complete job description from the respective fire district for additional required and preferred qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a company officer or higher rank
- National Incident Management System certificates for IS-300 and IS-400
- Associate degree in Fire Science or a related field
- Possess active and current certification as:
- NFPA Fire Officer I (or equivalent)
- NFPA Fire Officer II (or equivalent)
- NFPA Instructor I (or equivalent)
- NFPA Fire Instructor II (or equivalent)
- NFPA Mobile Water Supply ( or equivalent)
- NFPA Hazardous Material Operations (or equivalent)
- NWCG Wildland FF1 (or equivalent)
- NWCG Single Resource Boss (or equivalent)

2. Prepare Your Cover Letter
In your cover letter, be sure to highlight how your training and experience meet or exceed the minimum job qualifications and indicate the district(s) you wish to be considered for.
3. Submit Your Application Package
Your application package must include:
- Completed Employment Application
- Cover Letter
- Resume
- Copies of certifications meeting the minimum qualifications
- DD214 (if claiming Veteran’s Preference)
Current members of either district may submit a cover letter and resume in lieu of the district employment application.
Application Timeline
Completed Employment Applications and all required documents must be submitted no later than August 25, 2026, at 12:00 PM (PST).
Candidate assessments are anticipated to be conducted September 16-17, 2026, with an anticipated start date of October 19, 2026.

4. Confirmation of Submission
Applications will be reviewed after the recruitment closes. Candidates selected to move forward in the hiring process will be contacted regarding the assessment center.
