Budget Committee Volunteer Opportunity
Evans Valley Fire District #6 is seeking community members to serve on the District’s Budget Committee. This is an important opportunity for residents to participate in local government, provide fiscal oversight, and help guide how public funds are allocated to support fire and emergency services.
About the Budget Committee
The Budget Committee reviews the proposed annual budget, receives public input, and makes recommendations to the Board of Directors. The committee is established under Oregon’s Local Budget Law (ORS Chapter 294).
Qualifications (per Oregon Revised Statutes)
- Must be a registered voter (elector) residing within Evans Valley Fire District #6
- Must not be an officer, agent, or employee of the Fire District
- Interest or experience in finance, budgeting, public service, or community involvement is helpful but not required
Term and Time Commitment
- Appointed members serve a three-year term
- The committee typically meets a few times in the spring during the annual budget development process
- This is a volunteer, unpaid position
Serving on the Budget Committee is a valuable way to contribute to transparency, accountability, and the long-term sustainability of fire and emergency services in our community.
