About this Class

Evans Valley Fire District #6 is offering this free 3-hour “Defensible Space Class” to the public on March 11th, 2023, from 9 am— 12 pm at the fire station (8677 E. Evans Creek Road, Rogue River, OR).

This informative class is based on a combination of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Firewise, CalFire, and Regional concepts and covers basic wildland fire behavior, home ignition zones, and structural ignition potential.

What is Defensible Space?

“Defensible space is the buffer you create between a building on your property and the grass, trees, shrubs, or any wildland area that surround it. This space is needed to slow or stop the spread of wildfire and it helps protect your home from catching fire and creates a safe area for firefighters to work in, to defend your home. “ - CalFire
