31 May 2006: Evans Fire District #6 - Auxiliary ANNOUNCEMENT: The May, 2006 Spaghetti Feed was a great success, topping all previous Feeds for number of people served. The 50/50 raffle did well too and the winner, Janet, promptly donated her winnings back to the Auxiliary! Janet is the proud Grandmother of Firefighter Laura - thank you Janet!!Ê
The proceeds from this Feed are earmarked for a specialized chain saw for roof ventilation on structure fires. With an oversized start grip that accomodates turnout gloves, adjustable bar, blade that cuts through nails, dirt, etc and a heavy duty motor, this chain saw is am important tool for our firefighters.
We were very pleased to have the new Rescue Rig in attendance and many tours were given - it's a beauty and EVFD6 thanks the tax payers for approving the levy that is paying for it.
Thanks to all that came to enjoy spaghetti with us - we appreciate your support of the department
19 May 2006: Evans Fire District #6 ANNOUNCEMENT: ODF DECLARES FIRE SEASON IN JACKSON AND JOSEPHINE COUNTIES
Fire season on forestlands protected by the Oregon Dept. of Forestry's Southwest Oregon District begins at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, May 24. The fire danger level will be "moderate" (blue), and the Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) will be 1 (one). This declaration affects state, private, county and Bureau of Land Management forestlands in Jackson and Josephine counties.
Fire season is declared by the state forester when weather conditions and dry vegetation make fires difficult to control. In 2005, the district declared fire season on June 27.
Here is a summary of fire season restrictions that will go into effect on May 24:
Debris burning will be prohibited, except in burn barrels for which a permit has been issued. Contact the Oregon Dept. of Forestry or your local fire protection district for a burn barrel permit.
The use of fireworks on forestlands will be prohibited.
In the Wild and Scenic section of the Rogue River between Grave Creek and Marial, camp fires and smoking will be permitted on sand and gravel bars between the river and the high water mark, and only in areas naturally free of flammable vegetation. Smoking will also be permitted in boats and rafts while on the river. Camp fires must be in fire pans or on fire blankets.
Commercial operations, such as timber harvesting, conducted on forestlands will be required to have fire suppression equipment on the job site at all times, and a watchman must be provided.
Smoke from prescribed burns and fires set for firefighter training may occasionally be visible in higher-elevation forestlands. Daily updated fire information about burns on Bureau of Land Management-administered lands can be obtained by calling (541) 618-2354 or 1 (800) 267-3126. Forest Service prescribed burn information can be obtained by calling your local Forest Service office.

9 May 2006: Evans Fire District #6 AUXILIARY NEWS: Spring and Day Light Savings are here so that means it's time for another Spaghetti Feed. For this Feed, our goal is to raise enough money to purchase a specialized chain saw for the Fire Department. This chain saw is extra heavy duty with a large starter handle that can be used with turnout gloves on and it has an adjustable bar so that roof ventilation won't go too deep and cause unnecessary damage to rafters. It's been on the Chief's wish list for some time and, at a cost of more than $1000.00, we'll need to sell a lot of spaghetti!
Come join us on Saturday, May 20th at the Enterprise Grange in Wimer - 8700 E. Evans Creek Road. We'll be serving spaghetti from 4:30 to 7:00 P.M. The cost is $5 for adults, $3 for kids 5-12 and free for kids under 5. The popular 50/50 raffle will be returning with tickets being sold by one of our well known firemen - Stuart Johnson. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Winner will be drawn around 6:45 and you do not have to be present to win.
